RATES
Below are average charges I use for estimating standard domestic electrical jobs compiled by Trusted Traders with Trade Membership and Insurance:

Minimum call out charge for 1h is £50 plus materials.
2nd hour onwards £35 plus materials.
Day Rate (8h with 1/2h Lunch) £280
Electrical Installation Certificate + Building Control Notification ( paper & electronic) £35
Minor works form ( 1 position change / modification or addition on paper) £15
Most jobs may require testing and certification. Hourly rates and prices for specific jobs could vary according to location.

My quotes are broken down before work begins on our work order form so you know how you will be charged, smaller jobs may just have a verbal agreement.
You can also reduce time and costs by ensuring that your electrician has easy access to the wiring or sockets they need to work with and organise a suitable time as to cause minimal disruption to normal household or workplace activities.

GEAll of the prices in this guide include labour and materials but exclude VAT. Costs may vary depending on the items agreed on to install.

The original quote can be found on your work order form as agreed on before work starts. If variations are to be added later to your initial installation a variation order form is to be completed and agreed upon.

Install two extra double sockets in lounge**
Supply and fit two double sockets (white).
Cost - £110-£200 Time - 2-4 hours
** The price of installing sockets will be increased if you want wires hidden (chased) in walls, as this will take longer and may require plastering afterwards. Plastic surface trunking is cheaper and quicker but doesn't look as neat. Circuits must be suitably healthy and have RCD protection.

Replace existing bathroom extractor fan**
Wiring already correct, no materials needed except for fan and duct tape.
Labour Cost Only- £50 - £100 Time - 1-2 hours
** The price of installing a fan depends on how the wiring and ducts play out. New installations need an isolator for the fan mounted outside the bathroom with 3 core wire for a timed fan connected to the light switch if you wish it to run for a while after the light is turned off . A new wall vent may have to be made if one doesn't exists, this can be high level work taking up to 6 hours in the most complex cases to complete. Just the labour cost in this case would be around £250 - £350. E.g. All work in bathrooms / kitchens is notifiable to building control, you will recieve a certificate.

***Dependent on how close the light is to the electrical supply and the length of cable required.
